On the plus side, the American Revolutionary War Uniform (Value Bundle)
• is well-made
• is of good quality materials (the hat is actual WOOL felt)
• fits well
• has pockets in the vest and coat
• The uniform looks almost exactly as pictured; the coat collar has only one button on each side, not two, and the buttons are set more toward the front.
On the minus side
• 24 hours after ordering, there are no refunds, only store credit
• To mail the costume back for an exchange via USPS costs $60
• You won’t be notified that your return was received
• The buttons holding the hat brim back in three places do not have hitch pin clips. Instead, they have brads that are too short and weak to keep the stiff brim from pulling them out. I solved this by putting the brads through the brim rivets, but not through the crown rivets. Then I sewed the brim to the crown all around the edges of the rivets.
• The lace cuffs are separate and have elastic at the top. However, they still slide down until the lace covers your hands to the fingertips. I sewed them to the inside of the coat sleeves.
Notes
• A couple of reviewers thought the blue was too dark, but it is a true navy which IS very dark and exactly as pictured.
• The pants were huge on my husband, which was easy to fix. I cut the bottoms off, ran a seam up the inside of the legs, then hemmed them. (I don't consider this a minus because costumes have to be made to fit people of all heights.)
• Recommend hat pins if you use a wig underneath. We added a white Colonial man’s wig from Wildcat Wigs on Etsy.
