The Victorian era (also referred to as the Edwardian era) set in motion so many fashion trends. Instead, the frock coat became the new norm. Every man wore a calf-length frock coat during this time period, acting as a formal piece of outwear perfect for any occasion. A predecessor to today’s three-piece suit, the Victorian frock coat was worn over a collared shirt and a waistcoat or vest. No man of any age, any class, or any profession went without his frock coat when leaving home.
