Demeter, daughter of Chronos, mother of Persephone, and sister of Hera, may not be one of the better-known Greek gods and goddesses, but she is one of the most important. A member of the original twelve Olympians, she played a central role in the creation of seasons. Demeter was worshiped well before many other Greek gods and was the critical figure of many female-only cults and festivals.
Our Demeter costume includes a green velvet dress, gold waist sash, and gold cape inspired by her association with the earth and agriculture; also included are a gold harvest leaf bracelet and ornate gold jeweled crown representing her status as a goddess and her importance in ancient Greek religion.
